Mindful Parenting

Mindful Parenting in Brookline, MA

Mindful parenting is not a set of rules for child rearing. It is a way to take care of yourself and your child at the same time. The focus is learning to use Mindfulness as an essential part of day- to- day parenting.   Mindfulness can help create an island of calm in the midst of an overwhelming day so that stress does not keep mounting.  It allows you to calm yourself and avoid impatience when calm and understanding are what is required. A simple biofeedback device is used so parents can chart progress as they learn to access a calm place that is always inside of them, if sometimes beyond reach.  Mindful parenting can help you be at your best when you and your child need it the most --- in the midst of daily life.

This work can be done individually or on groups.

MINDFUL PARENTING FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH ILLNESS OR SPECIAL NEEDS.

While all parenting is stressful, parenting children with illness or special needs brings additional pressures such as appointments, anxiety about the future and conflicting needs of  family members  to name a few. It can be overwhelming.

Mindfulness is a valuable skill to have in this situation.  It is a beautiful way to take care of yourself and increase your capacity to care for your child at the same time.   Mastering the art of Mindfulness gives you the capacity to take a relaxation break even on the most challenging days and keep your overall stress level in check.

My approach focuses on using Mindfulness as a part of daily life. A simple biofeedback device is used to chart progress. With practice people are able to access calm in increasingly challenging situations. The calm you create is not only a gift to yourself but to the whole family.

This work can be done individually or in groups.
